President Trump’s recent remarks about immigrants have been made with the 2020 presidential race in mind, according to The Atlantic. In the article, Erin Corcoran, executive director of the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, spoke on Trump’s promise to begin sweeping Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in the context of his reelection campaign.
“For him, he wants to say, ‘Look, I’m out in front on this. I told you I would do this, I’m doing it. Here we go.’ From a political perspective that’s certainly the case,” said Corcoran, an expert on immigration law.
