Janyl Ismailova served as an urban resilience project manager for the Graduate School of Development at the University of Central Asia (UCA). She oversaw the coordination of the management and implementation of the various project streams, in collaboration with the respective overall project management teams based in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan and Khorog, Tajikistan. She previously held the position of research fellow at the UCA’s Mountain Societies Research Institute, where she coordinated local and regional development projects. She also led the e-Bilim Mobile Digital Library Project, guided implementation of knowledge management platforms, and supported the execution of the Naryn baseline study, as well as subsequent surveys and monitoring activities in remote areas.

Janyl’s interests include development and underdevelopment, usage of educational technologies in underdeveloped regions, EdTech and information communication technologies for development. Janyl holds a BA degree in international and comparative politics from the American University of Central Asia. She is also an alumna of the Lehigh University Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry Program. Janyl is the recipient of a Nanovic Institute Fellowship and an Ortenzio Family Fellowship.
