Starting at the age of sixteen, Binar Faeq Karim has built a versatile career spanning journalism, media, communications, research, and politics. From 2014 to 2017, he played a pivotal role in providing news coverage of the transnational terrorist group known as ISIL for numerous international media outlets in Iraq.

Subsequently, Binar’s career path led him into the realm of political media and communications. He collaborated with the EU Election Observation Mission, YouGov, the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, and worked with the Kurdistan Regional Government deputy prime minister. His journey then took him into the domain of international cooperation, where he assumed the role of communications and visibility advisor for GIZ, an international development cooperation agency operating in some 120 countries worldwide.

Additionally, he has provided remote support to Human Rights Watch, aiding their coverage of human rights violations in Iraq. His proficiency in Kurdish, Arabic, and English enhances his capability to work effectively in diverse global contexts. As a master of global affairs student, Binar is the recipient of a Kroc Institute Fellowship.
