Sustainable Development, 2025

United States

Alex graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2019 with a double major in international business and Spanish. For the past two years she has worked as a research associate for Hispanic Advocacy and Community Empowerment through Research (HACER), the only advocacy-driven, Latino-specific research organization in the Upper Midwest. Prior to HACER, Alex served for a year with MN Opportunity Corps as an opportunity navigator with Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio, which influenced her decision to work with organizations that work towards institutional change.

Alex is from Minnesota, but from ages ten to fifteen she lived in Arizona near the US-Mexico border, which formed her connection with Mexican culture and inspired her passion to learn Spanish. Alex feels passionate about working with and supporting sustainable economic development within communities and groups that lack support and resources. She is the recipient of a Donald & Marilyn Keough Fellowship.
