Donald Kerwin

Senior Research Associate

Donald Kerwin is a senior research associate in the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame. He is the executive editor and founder of the Journal on Migration and Human Security and a senior fellow at Emory University’s Center for the Study of the Law and Religion.

Kerwin previously served as executive director of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., as vice president for programs at the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), and most recently as executive director of the Center for Migration Studies of New York. He has also served as a senior fellow at MPI and an associate fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center.

Kerwin has served on numerous boards, commissions, and task forces, including the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration, the Council on Foreign Relations’ Independent Task Force on Immigration Policy, and the board of directors for Jesuit Refugee Services – USA. He writes and speaks extensively on immigration policy, forced migration, refugee protection, access to justice, national security, and other issues. He is a graduate of Georgetown University’s College of Arts and Sciences and the University of Michigan Law School.
