US imposes sanctions on Islamist Rebels in Eastern Congo

Daniel Fahey, visiting associate professor of the practice, detailed the economic sanctions imposed by the US on Islamic Rebels in Eastern Congo in a recent Reuters article.

“Sanctions are unlikely to have much impact in the short-term, but they are a sign that the US government is taking seriously the violence in Beni, and pursuing non-military means to address it.”
