Kasey Swanke

Associate Advising Professor; Associate Director, Undergraduate Major in Global Affairs

Kasey Swanke serves as the principal administrator for the undergraduate major in global affairs. In this role, she manages and advises students on the curricular components of the major and develops opportunities for student engagement and community building.

Previously, Swanke served as first-year advisor to students exploring majors in all disciplines including those in the Keough School and Colleges of Science, Arts and Letters, Engineering, and Business.

Swanke earned a BS from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and an MA from Notre Dame, both in political science. With interests in advising theory and practice, academic preparedness and success, engaged learning, and student group identities on campus, she is currently researching how minority students’ identities affect their academic success and well-being.

In addition to advising, Swanke regularly teaches Writing and Rhetoric, Composition, and Politics in Film. She twice won an Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award from Notre Dame’s Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning. She serves on Faculty Senate and other university-wide committees.
