Becca Méndez

Associate Director, Master of Global Affairs

Becca Méndez is the associate director of the Master of Global Affairs program. She provides leadership for the master’s program and oversees student support.

A former Peace Corps volunteer, Méndez has more than five years of experience living and working in Colombia, Paraguay, Spain, and Ecuador. She speaks Spanish and Guaraní, an indigenous language of South America. Méndez also has worked as a research associate for the Peace Accords Matrix Barometer Project, collaborating with Notre Dame faculty, staff, and researchers in Colombia to monitor the implementation of the Colombian Peace Agreement.

Méndez’s research interests focus on the intersection of peace and the environment. This interest is inspired and informed by her Peace Corps service in Paraguay as an environmental conservation volunteer and her work in sustainable development with the Colombian nonprofit organization SembrandoPaz

As an operations manager at Lutheran Community Services NW in Oregon, Méndez coordinated an immigration advocacy program and other community services dedicated to keeping children safe and families together. She holds an MA in international peace studies from Notre Dame and a BA in sociology from Linfield College.
