The Nanovic Institute for European Studies offers this grant to faculty fellows and associates leading collaborative, multidisciplinary projects that advance research, scholarship or creative work in European studies.

- To be eligible for funding, proposals must have multiple (at least two) faculty leaders / principal investigators (PIs) who are regular faculty at Notre Dame with primary appointments in different departments or units at least one of the faculty leaders of this proposal must be a Nanovic Faculty Fellow or Faculty Associate.

Evaluation Criteria
- Strength of the proposal, budget alignment, and its capacity to advance the mission of the Nanovic Institute and European studies.
- Priority will be given to projects that speak explicitly to Nanovic research priorities. Other key priorities include:
- (i) Interdisciplinary excellence (supporting collaborative projects with shared value across disciplinary and departmental boundaries, bringing diverse methods and perspectives into dialogue)
- (ii) Mission fit (with themes of the identified projects should align with the mission, goals, and priorities of the Nanovic Institute, the Keough School of Global Affairs, and support the University’s mission; this includes proposals from the Institute's longstanding strength in the humanities and arts as well as proposals focused on contemporary European policy and practice
- (iii) Cooperation with other institutes, centers, and departments (combining resources from other institutes, centers, and departments, when possible)
- (iv) Advancing outcomes and outputs (as the anticipated outcomes and outputs might not be fully shaped or identified at the time of the proposal, the committee will consider the ability of the faculty PIs to carry out the proposed project based on past record and/or future promise).
