Submission Requirements

• A research proposal, of not more than 3,000 words (excluding bibliography and budget), that clearly identifies:
  • the research question to be addressed, its background, significance within the researcher's field and relation to the core democracy priority of the Kellogg Institute
  • the international focus or dimension
  • the research methods to be employed to answer the question
  • the body of materials to be used
  • a statement of the applicant's expected accomplishments during the period for which Graduate Research support is requested
• A short bibliography.
• A detailed line-item budget. The Kellogg Institute will support per diems up to 50% of M&IE domestic and international rates available on the State Department website at www.GSA.gov. Per diem allowance on partial days of travel (first and last days of trip) will be half the approved per diem rate.
• Budget item(s) supporting documentation (e.g. airbnb quote). For research assistant expenses in the proposed budget, briefly describe the specific tasks the research assistant will perform in the field.
• An up-to-date Graduate CV
• The name and email address for two recommenders, one from a faculty advisor and one from another faculty member; at least one must be from a Kellogg faculty fellow. Your recommenders will be sent an email with the link to upload their recommendation letter to our online system.
• An official Notre Dame transcript (e-transcripts will be accepted)
