Join us in welcoming 25 new, young African business leaders to the community for six weeks this summer. 14 women and 11 men will travel from Sub-Saharan Africa to participate in the 2019 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders program, which is sponsored by the US Department of State, with funding provided by the US Government, and administered nationally by IREX. The Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD)–an integral part of the Keough School of Global Affairs–has administered the Fellowship at Notre Dame since 2014 and has graduated 125 Fellows from the program.
This year’s Fellows come from 17 countries, including: Angola, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
