Senior Content Specialist

 

The University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Affairs invites applications for the position of Senior Content Specialist.

The Senior Content Specialist manages communications strategy and content development for the Keough School, with primary focus on content involving global religion and public policy issues. The Senior Content Specialist will work closely with the Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion and the Keough School’s Washington Office to understand their audiences and key objectives. S/he strategically plans and executes content to support those objectives across different communication channels and in various forms, including short- and long-form writing and visual content. The Senior Content Specialist presents the mission and vision of the Keough School and its institutes to the world, thereby advancing efforts to recruit students, promote academic research and policy engagement, support fundraising, and build brand awareness with global audiences.

This position reports to the Keough School’s Director of Communications and Marketing. It requires close collaboration and teamwork with the Dean’s Office communications team, and Keough School and institute staff and stakeholders, including the Executive Directors of the Ansari Institute and the Washington Office. This person will help lead ongoing integration of branding and messaging across the School.


Position Responsibilities

 

Write/Develop Content

Discover, develop and write feature stories and news releases that highlight the role of religion in global affairs and the contributions of academic research to public policy. This involves interviewing faculty researchers, students, alumni, and administrators, drafting and revising compelling text, finding and selecting photos, developing visual content, posting and circulating content through the ND newswire, Keough and institute websites, social media, and other channels, and copyediting and proofreading all digital content.

Project Management

Contribute to and oversee editorial quality of communication materials. Provide direction for photography, video, and other forms of digital and print media. Manage development of digital content and email marketing, contact management, web updates, and print materials, particularly for the Ansari Institute and the Washington Office.

Strategy Development

In consultation with the Keough School Dean’s Office and institute staff, identify and understand key audiences for marketing communication efforts. Develop a communications strategy for the Ansari Institute and Washington Office that aligns their target audiences and growth plans with the Keough School’s strategic communications and marketing plan.

Event Publicity

Work collaboratively with relevant staff to develop publicity and promote academic and policy events both on-campus, in Washington, and abroad.

Integrated Communications

Work collaboratively with the Keough School Communications Committee to develop best-practices for communications across the Keough School.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field and 5-6 years of relevant experience,
  • Significant professional communications experience in areas such as marketing, public relations, and/or copywriting,
  • Understanding of communications strategy and its connection to digital content, creation, and organization,
  • Excellent project management skills (organization and attention to detail) and writing and editing skills,
  • Interest in global affairs; familiarity with global religion and public policy preferred,
  • Creative energy to explore and try different approaches to marketing and communication,
  • Ability to collaborate,
  • International experience strongly preferred.
